Education app measurement review
A half-day sitting that maps two or three weeks of education-app activity onto real periods, homework windows, and the year team’s scheme of work.
Who it is for
Academic coordinators, head teachers, and subject heads who already have an education app in daily use — Bahasa Melayu readers, mathematics practice, or English phonics — and who have been handed export files or weekly summaries they cannot honestly explain to a form teacher.
The result
You leave with a short written reading for one named class: which periods actually produced the taps, which exercises were abandoned, which “streaks” arrived after a reminder rather than during teaching, and three questions for the next year-team meeting. The reading is in classroom language. It is not a slide deck of national benchmarks.
Scope
Included: one class (or one streamed group), one education app, a window of two to three school weeks, a preparation call, the sitting itself, and a follow-up note of no more than four pages.
Excluded: building or configuring the app, training every teacher in the school, comparing five vendor products, or writing a tender document.
Who sits with you
A File Canvas Core reviewer — currently Aisyah Rahman or Farid Tan — who has spent years in Malaysian school staff rooms reading homework logs and assessment records. We are not a vendor account team.
How the sitting runs
- You send a timetable, the scheme of work for those weeks, and whatever export the app already allows (completion, time on exercise, quiz attempts).
- We mark the exports against periods, assemblies, and public holidays.
- We sit with two or three people who actually teach that class. We do not present to a packed hall.
- You receive the four-page reading within five working days.
Time and place
Half a day on site in Johor Bahru, usually 8:30 to 13:00 so we finish before the last teaching block. Schools outside Johor can sit twice by video, ninety minutes each, with the same preparation.
Preparation
Name the class, the app, and a contact who can explain what “complete” means inside that app (some products count a tap as a finish). Warn us if the sample weeks included sports day or a deep-cleaning closure.
Constraints
We work in English and Bahasa Melayu. We need exports you are already allowed to share; we do not ask for pupils’ home addresses or identity-card numbers. If the vendor only shows a single school-wide percentage, we will say so and stop rather than invent a finer story.
Price
From RM 2,800 for one named class. Travel inside Johor Bahru is included. Travel to other Peninsular cities is billed at cost. A second class in the same sitting is quoted separately because the timetable work does not copy across.
